Called to the Ontario Bar, 1970

Appointed Queen's Counsel, 1984

Retired from active practice, 2020

Mr. Baldwin's general corporate, commercial and securities practice, as a partner at Stikeman, Elliott through 1993, and in this firm until retirement, encompassed the banking, loan, trust and securities areas of the financial sector. In the securities area, client issuers included pooled investment entities such as investment trusts and partnerships, mortgage investment corporations and open and closed-end funds, as well as industrial and resource companies.

Supplemental to his corporate and commercial legal skills was his continuing interest in industrial and technological matters. This knowledge enabled him to collaborate effectively with a client's financial advisors in the practical as well as legal aspects of the due diligence review in business acquisition and financing transactions.
